Hi Andy,

Thank you for your help. Could you please tell how to tell XRootD redirector to "send the client to the dCache XRootD redirector" first? Right now, the two local XRootD redirectors:

  *   EOS XRootD redirector
  *   dCache XRootD redirector

join the upper level redirector using:
# tail xrootd-disk.cfg
.....
all.manager cmsxrootd-site3.fnal.gov:1213

----------
# tail xrootd-disk.cfg
.....
all.manager cmsxrootd-site3.fnal.gov:1213
--------------------

So, users access the files via cmsxrootd-site3.fnal.gov, e.g.,

>xrdcp -d 3 -f root://cmsxrootd-site3.fnal.gov//store/mc/myfile /dev/null

Could you please tell how to configure cmsxrootd-site3 XRooTD redirector to use xrootd-disk first?

Thanks again for your advice.

Regards,
Yujun

Hi Yujun,

The way you solve this problem is to visit the preferred places first. So,
in this case you would send the client to the dCache XRootD redirector and
if it does not have the file it would send the client to the EOS XRootD
redirector. Now, I am assuming that this is the way it is setup. If not,
then we may need a different plan.

When a file is located in either EOS or dCache side, things are working as expected. However, when a file is located on both EOS and dCache, it seems EOS redirector is always chosen instead of dCache redirector. This is not ideal for us as we want to the files to be accessed from dCache XRootD redirector first.
