Just to provide some background, our site is the CMS site T2_US_Wisconsin. We support users writing files via XRootD to HDFS with their mapped user IDs, so we have multi-user mode enabled. In our configuration, we did not specify `persist` or `chkpnt`, so we got the default values, which means they were enabled.
