@ccaffy Are you doing a Third Party Copy (via HTTP) for the test transfer? That's the particular scenario that breaks it for me.

Yes, indeed. A HTTP-TPC PULL transfer. The modification I made is simple: I ask the pulling server to ask the source server's file size via a HEAD request before opening the file on the pulling server.

Do you have a link to your tests and some logs associated to them ?
