My issue also exists for 5.4.3 and 5.5.0 - but it seems to only the case for larger volumes of transfers where the connection is dropped 95% of the cases for the checksum checks (transfers work!).

Yes, indeed. A HTTP-TPC PULL transfer.

Out of curiosity: is that done in a redirector-server setup (on different nodes)?
