Thanks Andy and thanks Brian for having looked at the stack trace!
We'll upgrade xrootd as soon as possible (we are waiting for CMS feedback and then we'll do that: https://ggus.eu/index.php?mode=ticket_info&ticket_id=159539).
After upgrading, we'll leave two servers with async I/O off and two with async I/O on, and hopefully we'll see what happens.
