@amadio - could you test https://github.com/xrootd/xrootd/pull/2026? I did some initial testing on my side and it restores the compatibility between RHEL7 clients and RHEL9. Unfortunately, I'm not sure a build against OpenSSL 1.1.1 is necessary anymore.
