Unfortunately, I realized August 16 is my daughter’s 20^th birthday, so I probably won’t be able to make the game after all.

I know I’ve only played at SLAC once since the pandemic started, but I’ve been playing in these SLAC/SSI games since 1997, and I still have the official SLAC soccer jersey the lab bought for us regulars back in 1997 or 1998.  I wonder if anyone else on this e-mail list still has one.  Maybe Cho?  Amadeo, were you playing that long ago?

 

So, I will come out, but will be a sub if there is an over-abundance of regulars.

 

Interesting Symmetry article.  There were only a couple of times when the SSI team put up a decent fight.  Recently it’s been a blowout, with SLAC eventually giving SSI guys like Roberto to try to bring up their skill level.

 

I’d be much obliged if one of you other borrachos would arrange an alcohol permit.  I’m happy to bring food or drink as needed.

 

 

 

The annual tradition returns! Our yearly soccer match against those attending the SLAC Summer Institute is back on after a three year pandemic pause. I will follow up with a calendar invitation to the entire group.

 

For those of you new to SLAC since Aug 2019, this is an annual match between SSI students and our SLAC group. I’ve pasted the SSI website below, along with a Symmetry article from 2010. Please remember that SSI students are guests at our site, and while we all enjoy the competition of the game, this is a friendly match first and foremost.
