I could use the feature as I am preparing for a migration from the regular xrootd server to the podman container.

This would be very beneficial for migrations and storage improvements, where you want to change object and stripe sizes and or add new features for distributed file systems at directory level.
No there is not. The reason is that XRootD actually does not support
symlinks in the traditional way. Notice there is no way to create a
symlink without logging into the server. In XRootD symlinks are reserved
for administrative purposes.
