    Minutes of ATLAS-SCCS planning meeting / Mar. 19, 2008
    ======================================================

Att: Wei, Peter, Randy, Richard, Tofigh, Booker, Len, Steffen

1. Operations

Smooth operations. No problems seen from occasional spurts
    of GLAST jobs.

2. FDR-1 and pAthena

Wei reports that we have received the full set available
from BNL Tier-1, but surprisingly there are only 191 AOD
files adding up to ~100 GB. Peter will confirm with the FDR
folks that they actually generated so few events...

There were no CCRC data transfer tests to SLAC, though they
might have tested just the Tier-0 to Tier-1 connections.

FDR-2 will start in 3rd week of May. The total size of data
to be generated is still under review; SLAC/T-2 will be ready.

Wei mentioned that they perform no checksum when the data
is sent to SLAC from BNL. Instead they provided a table of
checksums that can be used to verify the transfer afterwards.
Also that at the beginning of an analysis job, checksum is
done while reading the events, not very efficiently...

There were some discussion on the usage of xrootd at ATLAS/US
sites. West T-2 (SLAC), SW T-2 (UTA) and Wisconsin T-3 are
currently using xrootd. To expand the usage throughout
ATLAS/US, they will have to provide manpower support.

3. Tier-2 Hardware and Infrastructure

15 Thumpers have been delivered (7 ATLAS, 3 BABAR, 5 GLAST).
ATLAS disks will come online in staggered fashion by the end
of April. Each Thumper has 32 TB (32 1TB disks) and after
RAID configuration will have ~25 TB disk space per unit.

BlackBox #1 will be down around Apr. 15 when the electric work
on BlackBox #2 is being performed. BB2 has landed at SLAC.
It will be filled Yilis; to be completed by end of April.
FELL install is coming along finishing in the same time frame.

Power Outage at Building 50 core facilities in April:
starting Friday (Apr.25) evening till Sunday (Apr.27).
Jobs will be drained in advance.

4. AOB

DOE Security meeting was going on next door. Apparently
things have gone well so far. They will present their findings
    tomorrow afternoon.

There was some discussion on SIM/dCache/xrootd between
Randy and Wei, and that Andy is working on it. I didn't
quite catch what it was about.
Please feel free to add here.

Next meeting will be in 2 weeks, Wed. April 2.
